The Church of Catmon is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines built in 1835-1875 during the Spanish colonial era.
The Catmon Parish Church was built in Nov. 2, 1835 after its separation from Danao. The original chosen site of the Church was in Catmondaan overlooking the sea and there, Bantayan-sa-Hari was also constructed and is evident by the remains of a watchtower of a fort that can still be seen within the compound of the Elementary School. The second chosen site was in Sitio Manabo, Brgy. Maca-as, but again it did not prosper. The site where the Church now stands was the third and final place and is located at the poblacion or at the heart of the Municipality, Lungsod sa Catmon. Tore
